Immigration Policy Scorecard

Methodology for Immigration Policy Score

  • Votes, bills and public statements appear separately under the four policy questions. A vote for detention legislation does not establish a position on every border or deportation policy.
  • Recorded-action score: percentage of the selected recorded votes and sponsorships aligned with the scorecard’s positions. This is not a score across all four policy questions. Missing actions are not counted as votes against. Members with no recorded action have no score.
Sources and research scope

A source-linked record of immigration policy actions, votes and proposals in the United States and selected countries.

Recorded-action scores; evidence is organized under closed border, deportation, sanctuary-city policies and amnesty. A score does not establish a position on every policy.

533 scored · 4 without a recorded action

Sources

Illegal-immigration scores show alignment on the recorded actions in this dataset, not complete positions on all four policy areas. Members without a recorded action have no numerical score. Public positions are shown separately and are not counted in that score. Legal research currently includes H.R. 2705, 7451, 8443, 10400 and 10643, plus the North Texas investigation request. The October 9, 2026 update uses original sponsors and cosponsors listed in introduced bill texts; later cosponsors and other actions may be missing. A single recorded action does not mean a member's entire legislative history has been reviewed. Legal scores can change when evidence is added.
